How do I do a manual roam on my handset?
It does vary with which handset you have but the basics are as follows. Go into settings on your handset, and then phone settings, network/operator selection, and change this from Automatic to Manual. The phone will then give you a list of networks, select any one that is NOT your network. The phone will then try to connect and will be unable to. Then select the right network, once you have connected onto the right network, change the setting back to Automatic. This is a manual roam.
What is a hard reset?
Sometimes you need to reset your handset to clear a problem you may be experiencing. While the handset it turned on, take the battery out, this will turn the phone off, put the battery back into the handset and turn it back on. This is a hard reset.
