The Law on Handsfree

On the 1st of December 2003 it became an offence to use a handheld phone while driving and offenders are slapped with a £30 instant fine, rising to £1,000 if they don’t settle up promptly and faced points depending on the circumstances.

From 27th February 2007, the law has been updated and the penalty for using a hand-held mobile phone whilst driving has increased to £60 and three penalty points will be added to the drivers' license.
