Wet weather tip for caravan and trailer owners
I’m sure we are all enjoying the good weather, but over the last few months most drivers have been faced with some pretty large puddles. Surfing, of course, looks fun, but when you’re driving a vehicle equipped with single or twin-plug towing connections, that’s when you don’t want to kick up waves.
Among the connections in a towing socket, one has a 12V feed – which is permanently LIVE. Similarly there’s a NEUTRAL connection, as well. That’s why you don’t want water getting into a socket because problems quickly follow.
For example, last week I had a towcar whose near-side parking lights failed to switch off. Time was spent looking for a faulty switch. No luck there, CBS AUTOMOTIVE expert eventually found what was causing the problem. In the towing socket, he spotted that persistent winter damp had caused rusty deposits which eventually bridged two of the pins. A lesson was learnt.
So call us to have the socket checked it only takes 30 minutes and sip a cup of tea or coffee while we do all the hard work.
